South Orange Middle School (SOMS) will host a transition program and a barbecue for incoming 6th graders and their families on Thursday, August 21.
The program will help “ensure a seamless transition into SOMS,” said Principal Joseph Uglialoro in a letter.
Students will be introduced to the administration, tour the building, and participate in question-answer sessions with 7th and 8th grade Transition Leaders.
The first session is from 10:00 a.m. -11:15 a.m. for incoming 6th graders with last names starting with A-M. The second session will be from 12:30 p.m. – 1:45 p.m., and is for incoming 6th graders with last names starting with N-Z.
Also on that date, the school will host a “Back to School BBQ” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the SOMS courtyard. “It will be a wonderful opportunity for us to meet in anticipation of a successful school year,” said Uglialoro.
