Every year, the Village of South Orange honors fallen soldiers and those who have served our country with a solemn, poignant ceremony at the Duck Pond. Before you head off to Memorial Day barbecues and beach parties, it is a nice way to pay tribute to and thank the brave men and women who protect us and sometimes sacrifice their lives for us.
In attendance will be Village officials, including Village President Sheena Collum, members of local Boy Scout troops, first responders and public safety officers, and former member of the armed services and families of service members who have died.
This year’s service is Monday, May 30 from 10:15 – 11:15 a.m., by the Rock at the Duck Pond off Mead Street. It is held by the Village of South Orange Government, Boy Scout Troops and Service Veterans each year.
