The Board of Education is reaching out to the special education communities for input on the superintendent search.
Brian Osborne’s last day as South Orange-Maplewood Schools Superintendent is today, June 30. Osborne is leaving the district for a new position as superintendent of schools in New Rochelle, NY. Osborne will be consulting on a day-to-day basis through July as Assistant Superintendent Jim Memoli transitions to interim superintendent. The district has pledged to involve parents and teachers in the selection process for a new superintendent.
Toward this end, the South Orange-Maplewood School District is hosting a focus group session on the selection of a new superintendent involving the Special Education Parent Advisory Committee, or SEPAC, the Special Education PTO, and Dr. Leroy Nunery of Hazard, Young & Attea, firm conducting the superintendent search, on Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 8 – 9 p.m. at 525 Academy Street.
The invitation reads:
At this session, you will meet with Dr. Leroy Nunery of Hazard, Young & Attea, the search firm hired to find a new Superintendent. Dr. Nunery is gathering stakeholder input in order to: 1) inform the Leadership profile (job description) and 2) identify prospective Superintendent candidates.
For those who are unable to attend, please provide input for the superintendent search using the online survey on the homepage of the district website https://www.somsd.k12.nj.us. Updates on the Superintendent Search will also be posted on the district website homepage.
