Maplewood Police Arrest 3 Teens in Alleged Robbery, Assault at DeHart Park

Maplewood Police arrested three people, an 18-year-old and two 16-year-olds, on October 4 in connection with a fight and robbery at DeHart Park.

At around 2:30 p.m., officers responding to a reported fight at the park on Burnett Avenue saw several people attempting to run away, said Sgt. Christopher Black. Officers stopped an 18-year-old and two 16-year-old Irvington residents and arrested them.

A 15-year-old boy, also from Irvington, told police he knew the three teens and that they had allegedly taken his phone after assaulting him, said Black. The two juveniles and 18- year-old Juan Maintato all were charged with a variety of offenses ranging from simple assault to robbery. The 15-year-old was treated for minor injuries.

October 4, 2016; Theft; A package was stolen from the front of a Ridgewood Rd home between 3PM and 5 PM.

October 7, 2016; Theft; Sometime over the previous week, a snow blower was stolen from the rear of a business on Tuscan St.

October 8, 2016; Shoplifting; At approximately 10:30 AM, officers responded to a reported shoplifting at CVS on Valley St. Upon their arrival, they were informed that a male had stolen several bottles of Dove. Officers checked the area, but were unable to locate anyone fitting the description of the actor.
