The following is from Maplewood Karate:
On January 17, Maplewood Karate‘s Tournament Team traveled to Eatontown, NJ to compete in the Black Dragon Dojo tournament at the Eatontown Sheraton.
Competitors came from various martial arts schools around New Jersey to face off in events such as martial arts forms, weapons and sparring. Seven Maplewood Karate students attended to compete in the sparring event.
Students’ ages ranged from 7 to 13 years old, with two taking home first place and two taking third place titles in their respective divisions. In addition, the Maplewood dojo, Louis Toledo, was awarded recognition as a School of Champions by the Who’s Who in Martial Arts Organization.
Students at Maplewood Karate are not required to compete in tournaments, but those students who wish to compete have tournaments available to them local, national and international throughout the year.
