It turns out it was all hype.

That’s the conclusion about Winter Storm Juno, the blizzard that most meteorologists predicted would be “crippling” and “historic” in our area, prompting states of emergency, transit shutdowns and school closings. As of Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service reported the Maplewood – South Orange area got a mere 4-6 inches (with another inch or two expected to drop throughout the day.)

“Flubbed forecasts are far from unprecedented, but don’t typically lead to the shutdown of an entire region of millions of people,” an NJ.com reporter wrote in this interesting look at how the weather forecasters got it so wrong.

Meanwhile, NJ Transit is back up and running (though on a weekend schedule), kids get an extra day to study for midterms, and plenty of local businesses are open.

And you still have to shovel.
