Letter: Siders & Joshua Have the Vision & Record to Get the Job Done on Board of Ed

Seven candidates have filed to run for three seats on the 9-person South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education (election day is Tuesday, November 5, 2019). Village Green is posting letters in support of local candidates campaigning for election. If you wish to submit a letter, read Village Green’s Election Guidelines . . .

I am writing in strong support of Erin Siders and Thair Joshua for candidates in the SOMSD 2019 Board of Education election.

For two decades I have served as an elementary teacher, college professor, instructional coach, consultant, and speaker. I regularly read educational research, attend national and state conferences, and I have been invited to support schools throughout this country and in Canada. I know what it takes to make a school system work well, and what steps need to be taken to ensure all children have access to excellence. I believe that Ms. Siders and Mr. Joshua have the vision, necessary skills, and record of community action and advocacy to get the job done.
