The celebration kicks off with a free screening and discussion of the documentary Meat Me Halfway on Sunday, February 1, from 3-5 PM at The Baird.

The May 26 event will celebrate immigrant voices and benefit Make the Road NJ.

The project, which was completed in the fall, was part of the 2025 AARP Community Challenge Grant Program which funds innovative, quick-action projects that inspire long-term change in public places, transportation and more. 

NJ-11 Congressional candidate Tom Malinowski, an immigrant and South Orange resident, spoke at the event, urging protestors to tell their legislators not vote for a bill to fund ICE, even if it means shutting down the Department of Homeland Security for a couple of weeks.
