Public commenters at the June 26 meeting of the BOE cited reasons of public health, the environment, storm water management, budget and more in arguing against the use of artificial turf. No commenters on June 26 spoke in favor of turf, although one asked for organic infill if such turf is used.

Superintendent of Schools Jason Bing reported to the Board that the 19 transfers on the agenda were a cost-effective way to fill vacancies, placing people where they are needed most before hiring from outside the district.

Antoni has been serving for the last four years as Director of Counseling and Assessment at Ewing Public Schools and is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Temple University.

“I applaud you for continuing to lean into this,” Maplewood Township Committee person Dean Dafis told the Board of Ed, “especially right now in the climate that we’re in — cultural and legal attacks against the LGBTQ community, especially against our trans youth.”
